Discover what the Power Blox Metallic Add-On Set adds to your builds, who it's for, and who should skip it.
Quick answer
If you already own Power Blox or compatible brick sets and want to add lights to your creations, the Metallic Add-On Set is a solid expansion. It's not a standalone set, so skip it if you're starting from scratch.
What the metallic finish changes
The Metallic Add-On Set uses the same patented Power Blox technology as other E-Blox sets, meaning you build circuits directly into your projects without wires. The metallic finish mainly changes the look of the bricks, giving your builds a shiny, armor-like appearance that stands out from standard plastic blocks.
Because it's an add-on set, you'll need a base Power Blox set or compatible brick sets to get the full effect. The metallic pieces are meant to enhance and bring lights to your other builds, not to work alone.
Compatibility and creativity
The set is designed to be compatible with other toy brick sets, so you can mix it with bricks you already own. This makes it a flexible expansion for STEAM projects, classroom activities, or just creative play at home.
The add-on doesn't include a full instruction book for a specific model, so you'll rely on your own imagination to create structures. That's a plus if you enjoy open-ended building, but a limitation if you prefer step-by-step projects.
Decision rules for the Power Blox Metallic Add-On Set
- Already own Power Blox or compatible bricks: If you have a base set or standard brick collection, the Metallic Add-On Set is a worthwhile expansion to add lights and a shiny finish. Check that your existing sets are compatible before buying.
- Want lights in your builds: If your current builds lack illumination, this set adds the power block and light-up capability you need.
- Prefer guided projects: If you want a step-by-step model, look for a full Power Blox set instead. This add-on is for open-ended creativity. Consider a complete set like the Power Blox Light 'N Flight if you need instructions.
